International standards

International standards are standards developed by the International organizations for standardization ISO, IEC. ISO’s principal goal is to contribute to the development of standardization and related fields with a view of facilitating the trade exchange of products and services between countries and strengthening the international partnership in the field of intellectual, scientific, technical and economic activities.

International standards are developed by ISO/IEC Technical Committees comprising experts from the industrial, technical and business sectors. International standards are thus approved by at least 75 % of the member bodies of ISO/IEC.

Growing is the number of producers who understand that the use of international standards is a precondition for increasing their effectiveness and their competitiveness and that the standards can help to establish them on the global marketplace. International standards have economical and social importance for the society. They provide as many benefits for private and public organizations as they do for governmental and regulative bodies, traders and suppliers, conformity assessment bodies. International standards bring benefits to all of us as consumers.
